 Prison Ministry

Crossroads Church and the Crossroads Bikers are heavily involved in prison ministry, which is diverse in our service.   (1) Bible studies and discipleship programs in several area jails and prisons,  (2) We grade mail-in inmate discipleship lessons through Crossroad Bible Institute,  (3)  Bible and book distribution to local jails,  (4) Inmate visitation in local jails, (5)  Large-scale area prison evangelism with Bill Glass Champions For Life (CFL), (6) Praying and corresponding with inmates,  and (7) conducting the largest Angel Tree Christmas program in the Southeast (serving over 500 children each year the last three years).

Over 50 of our bikers have participated in weekend prison evangelism events with Bill Glass Champions for Life (CFL), a 38-year ministry serving "the least of these".  On five or so weekends per year, we'll send dozens of bikers and "walkers" into prisons, jails, and youth detention facilities all over GA and surrounding states.  Over 140 members of our church have gone into prisons with Champions for Life to share the love of Christ and the gospel message with inmates that desire to hear.

                                   GA Area CFL Events

Champions for Life has 1-2 prison events per year in Georgia.  We will post the CFL local schedule, a few pictures from prison days, and information on going on a Weekend of Champions (WOC) or a Day of Champions (DOC) as a volunteer.  You can participate as a biker, or as a normal volunteer (love me anyway, that was supposed to be funny!)   A GA state waiver is required to serve on Georgia prison events.   Register or get more info at  billglass.org.

Once a year, CFL rolls into Atlanta for a major evangelism weekend - In 2010 - we're going in Oct. 7-9th.  Training is 6 pm Thursday Oct. 7 (at a local church - probably FBC Hapeville), and Spiritual Enrichment message follows Register by Sept. 15 via Fax/Mail, or online at  at  billglass.org.

Most people who volunteer have never been in a prison, and over 70% of first-time prison volunteers have never shared their faith with another.  The Bill Glass School of Evangelism teaches volunteers to ask diagnostic questions and share a simple gospel tract, usually the training is Saturday morning for a Day of Champions, and on Thursday evening for a Weekend of Champions.

On a CFL event, athletes, entertainers, ex-offenders, magicians, or musicians draw a crowd of inmates out to the yard, and then share their testimony, paving the way for our volunteer bikers and "walkers" to share a Christian gospel tract with them.

Our bikers and lay volunteers are trained to ask five spiritually diagnostic questions, and share the "What Do You Think" tract with inmates, one-on-one or one-on-three.  God gets the glory and draws men and women unto Himself.  We get to see His great harvest.  Follow-up Bible studies are conducted at every institution.
