 Prison Ministry

Crossroads Church and the Crossroads Bikers are heavily involved in prison ministry - in local jails and prisons, with mail-in discipleship programs, with inmate visitation, large-scale area prison evangelism, and praying for & writing to inmates.  We also have the largest Angel Tree Christmas program in the Southeast,  serving over 500 children the last 3 years (over 700 kids in 2007).

Over 40 of our bikers have participated in weekend prison evangelism events with Bill Glass Champions for Life (CFL), a 35-year ministry serving "the least of these".  On 5-6 weekends per year, we'll send dozens of bikers and "walkers" into area prisons, jails, and youth detention facilities all over GA and surrounding states.  Over 140 members of our church have gone into prisons with Champions for Life to share the love of Christ and the gospel message with inmates that desire to hear.

Champions for Life pioneered bringing athletes, ex-offenders, race cars, bands, singers, power lifters, and into prison yards, and has a great amount of respect in the correctional system - which opens doors and gates - to eat with the inmates, and to drive our motorcycles right into the gyms or prison yards to minister.  Since 1990, over 35,000 motorcycles have been ridden into over 1,500 prisons, in Jesus' name!    Inmates (many of them are bikers) come out to see and hear the motorcycles, and it opens a door to share our faith in Christ.  A new type of event, starting in 2007, is a "Biker Champions" event, features biker testimonies.  CFL has a new web page for that - http://prisonbikers.com.

Crossroads Church is privileged to partner with CFL for prison evangelism.

     GA Area Events

Champions for Life is very active in Georgia, having 2-4 prison events each year.  We will post the CFL local schedule, a few pictures from prison days, and information on going on a Weekend of Champions (WOC) or a Day of Champions (DOC) as a volunteer.  You can participate as a biker, or as a normal volunteer (love me anyway, that was supposed to be funny!)   A GA state waiver is required to serve on Georgia prison events.   Register or get more info at  (www.billglasscfl.org).

Most people who volunteer have never been in a prison, and over 70% of first-time prison volunteers have never shared their faith with another.  The Bill Glass School of Evangelism teaches volunteers to ask diagnostic questions and share a simple gospel tract, usually the training is Sat. morning for a Day of Champions, and on Thursday evening for a Weekend of Champions.

On a CFL event, athletes, entertainers, ex-offenders, magicians, or musicians draw a crowd of inmates out to the yard, and then share their testimony, paving the way for our volunteer bikers and "walkers" to share a Christian gospel tract with them.
